McKenzie, Tenn. – Evangel women's basketball fell to the number one ranked NAIA-I team in the nation Saturday 84-63 in the second game of the Bethel (Tenn.) Classic in McKenzie, Tennessee.
Campbellsville forced 32 Evangel turnovers and jumped out to a 20-9 lead in the first quarter. The Crusaders pulled as close as seven midway through the second quarter before Campbellsville pulled away to go up 43-30 at halftime.
Crusaders center Allison Swanson had 22 points on 10 for 17 shooting while grabbing six rebounds and picking up five assists.
Lindsey Burd led four Campbellsville players in double-figures with 22 points.
The loss dropped Evangel to 0-2 after they lost to fourth ranked Bethel (Tenn.) on Friday. Campbellsville improved to 2-0.
Evangel opens their home schedule Tuesday with a 7 p.m. game against St. Gregory's (Okla.) at the Ashcroft Center.
