Evangel Volleyball Fights off Baker in 3-1 Victory

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Evangel volleyball team fought back for a 3-1 win in conference action Friday night against Baker.

The Crusaders had to rally back in the first set for a 26-24 win before taking a 25-22 win in the second set. Evangel fought off the Wildcats in the fourth set 25-22 after an extended 30-28 set three that saw Baker take its only point of the night.

Tori Lowry and Daisy Eklund led Evangel with 18 and 16 kills each. Lowry finished with a .250 hitting percentage behind 27 assists from McKenna Miller and 26 assists from Victoria Fishback helping pace the offense.

Defensively, Evangel took advantage of several Baker errors while Ciera Reyes added four blocks at the net. Eryn Russell tallied 38 digs, while Lowry finished with a double-double adding 23 digs for the Crusaders.

The win snaps a two-match skid for the Crusaders and moves Evangel into the upper half of the league standings jumping above the .500 mark at 4-3.
