POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. – The Evangel volleyball team saw its winning streak snapped Tuesday night as College of the Ozarks rallied for a 3-2 win at Keeter Gymnasium.
Evangel jumped out to a commanding 2-0 lead with a 28-26 win in set one and 25-15 win in set two. The Crusaders committed just one error in the second set hitting .548 as a team.
However, the Bobcats rallied back for narrow wins in the third and fourth sets before a 15-9 win in the fifth set.
Daisy Eklund led the way with a match-high 23 kills, while Ciera Reyes added 15 kills and a .444 hitting percentage. Bridget Petersen was tough at the net with seven blocks on the defensive side of the net.
College of the Ozarks got 21 kills from Ryley Thixton who finished with a double-double adding 15 digs.
The Crusader offense was paced by Jorden Stacey finishing with 31 assists and 13 digs for her third double-double of the season.
Evangel out-hit C of O with a .250 hitting percentage, but the Bobcats rebounded in the final set with just two errors while hitting at a .417 percentage.
Evangel heads back into tournament play Friday and Saturday at the Bellevue Classic in Nebraska with two matches each day.
